When you book a visit to Thackray Medical Museum, you will be given a unique code which will give you 12 months access to our GCSE History Resource website. This website contains specially created resources to aid you in the teaching of the new GCSE specifications for history. Each resource was designed with a specific exam board in mind. Using the language that students will encounter during the course, the resources will help to prepare students to feel confident in their abilities to create fully formed and well considered answers during their exams.
We also have a range of teaching resources available to buy from our shop. Please click here to see a list of prices.
Take advantage of our free familiarisation visit to help your students get the most from their visit. We can provide this for up to two teachers per school.
We provide guidelines, but please note that this document is not valid as a risk assessment. Teachers are advised to make a free familiarisation visit to complete their own risk assessment and make appropriate plans for their group.
Classrooms are available for use at no extra cost for eating packed lunches or food ordered from our café.
Please order lunch in advance using our order form if you wish to use our café and we will provide takeaway boxes for each student. Please note students cannot eat in the café and all food must be taken to classrooms, unless other arrangements have been made with museum staff prior to your visit.
The cost for pre ordered food is £3.50 per secondary school student or £2.75 per primary school student.
Please ensure that pupils are supervised at all times, including the lunch period. Supervision of pupils is, at all times, the responsibility of accompanying teachers.
We ask you to carefully supervise your students at all times, including the lunch period. Supervision is the responsibility of teachers throughout your visit. The museum can get very busy and so we respectfully remind teachers that you are responsible for the health and safety of your group on a visit.
